Bonsai — Privacy Policy Last updated: 24 October 2026 Bonsai is a game played through Discord and at bonsai.pixlabs.dev, made by PixLabs (run by rhodzy, based in England). Each Discord server grows one bonsai tree together. This policy explains what the game stores about you, why, and what you can do about it. It's written to be read, so if anything is unclear, just ask. Contact: rhodzy@rhodzy.com, or our Discord server: https://discord.gg/CwX7B9RxXZ WHAT WE STORE About you, as a player • Your Discord user ID. This is how the game knows which stats are yours. • Your Discord display name, as it was the last time you watered, pruned or cleared pests. It's shown on the gardener leaderboards. • Your gardening stats in each server you play in: waters, prunes, pests cleared, how much you've grown the tree, votes, and when you last played. • If you were the last person to water a server's tree, your user ID is kept on that tree so the game can make you wait for someone else's turn. About each server's tree • The server's Discord ID, the tree's name and species, its growth, health, sap, upgrades, and any trees that have died (the Hall of Fame). • The settings the server's admins choose: the panel channel, the ping role, who can buy upgrades, and whether announcements and web play are on. Votes When you vote for Bonsai on DiscordForge or DiscordNest, those sites tell us your Discord user ID. We record which site you voted on and when, so a vote can't be counted twice. We also remember which server you last pressed Vote in, so your reward goes to that server's tree. Playing on the website To play at bonsai.pixlabs.dev/play you log in with Discord. The website reads your Discord user ID, username and avatar to show who's logged in and to keep you logged in (with a cookie). It checks with the bot that you're a member of the servers it shows you. Now and then the website may ask you to complete a Cloudflare Turnstile "are you human" check. Cloudflare runs that check and hosts the website, and its privacy policy applies to it (https://www.cloudflare.com/privacypolicy/). Technical logs Our server keeps activity logs (for example, "user ID … pressed Water in server …") to find and fix problems. They're deleted automatically as the logs rotate, usually within a few weeks. WHAT WE DON'T DO • We don't read your messages. The bot only sees the commands and buttons you use with it. • We don't sell your data or share it with advertisers. There are no ads. • We don't track you outside Bonsai. • Bonsai has nothing to buy, so we don't handle any payment details. • The bot doesn't send you direct messages. WHAT OTHER PEOPLE CAN SEE Some of the game is public by design: • The tree panel shows who watered last, and the server's gardener list shows players' names and stats to anyone who can see the panel. • Announcements in the panel channel (for example upgrades, new seeds and votes) may include your name. A server's admins can turn announcements off. • The global leaderboards show tree names and the top gardeners' display names and stats to players in every server that uses Bonsai. WHO WE SHARE DATA WITH Only the services needed to run the game: • Discord, where the game runs. • DiscordForge and DiscordNest, which send us your vote. • Cloudflare, which hosts the website and runs the "are you human" check. • Our hosting provider (Contabo). The game's data is stored on a server in France, in the EU. WHY WE USE YOUR DATA (UK GDPR) • To run the game you've chosen to play: your ID, name, stats and votes. • Our legitimate interests: keeping the game fair (the turn rule, anti-abuse), fixing problems (logs), and showing leaderboards and announcements. HOW LONG WE KEEP IT • Game data: as long as you or your server play. If you ask us to delete your data, we will. • If a server's admins or the bot owner wipe a server, its tree, upgrades and gardener stats are deleted. • Logs: deleted automatically as they rotate, usually within a few weeks. YOUR RIGHTS You can ask us to show you the data we hold about you, correct it, delete it, or stop using it for a particular purpose. Contact us (details above) from the Discord account concerned. Deleting your data clears your gardening stats everywhere and can't be undone. The trees you helped grow keep their growth, because they belong to their servers. If you're unhappy with how we've handled your data, you can complain to the UK Information Commissioner's Office (ico.org.uk). CHILDREN You must be old enough to use Discord in your country (at least 13) to play. CHANGES If we change this policy, we'll update the date at the top. For significant changes, we'll also let players know in the PixLabs Discord server.
